Terms of Service

The terms that apply when you engage Lexi The Notary for notarial work in Tennessee.

Last updated: May 31, 2026

These terms govern notarial services provided by Lexi The Notary (“we,” “us”), a Tennessee notary public commissioned by the State of Tennessee and operating from 1022 Samsonite Blvd, Suite A, Murfreesboro, TN 37129. By scheduling, requesting, or receiving notarial services from us, you agree to these terms.

1. Services we provide

We provide notarial acts authorized under Tennessee law, including acknowledgments, jurats, sworn statements, signature witnessing, oaths and affirmations, real estate and loan signings, and notarization of business and personal documents. Service is available at our Murfreesboro office and, by appointment, as mobile notary across Rutherford and Davidson Counties.

2. Fees

Tennessee law caps the notarial fee at $5.00 per notarial act (per signature notarized). Additional service fees may apply for mobile visits, after-hours/weekend work, and travel beyond 15 miles from Murfreesboro. Full pricing is published at lexithenotary.com/pricing and is also confirmed in writing before service.

3. Payment

Fees are payable at the time of service. For mobile and after-hours visits, payment is collected on arrival, before any document is signed or notarized. Accepted methods are cash, check, and credit card; a processing fee may apply to card payments. Travel and after-hours quotes are confirmed in writing before the visit is scheduled.

4. Identification

State and federal law require us to verify the identity of every signer. You must present a current, government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, U.S. passport, or military ID) at the appointment. If you cannot provide acceptable ID, we will not be able to complete the notarial act. The notarial fee for an attempted but uncompleted act is waived; any travel or visit fee remains payable.

5. When we cannot notarize

A Tennessee notary is required by law to decline service in certain situations — including when the signer is not present, is not competent or willing to sign, cannot be properly identified, or when the document is blank, incomplete, or appears to be fraudulent. We will explain the reason and, where possible, suggest how to proceed.

6. Cancellation and rescheduling

We request at least two hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule a mobile visit. Travel fees may apply if our notary has already departed for the appointment.

7. We are not your attorney

Notarization confirms the identity of the signer and that the signature was made willingly — it does not validate the contents of the document or constitute legal advice. We cannot draft, select, explain, or advise you on the legal effect of any document. If you have questions about what a document means, please consult a licensed Tennessee attorney before signing.

8. Bonding and liability

We are bonded and insured as required by the State of Tennessee. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from notarial services is limited to the amount of our notary bond. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, or for delays caused by signer error, missing documents, third-party processing, courier, recording, or filing.

9. Privacy

How we handle information collected through our contact forms and during service is described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from notarial services performed by Lexi The Notary shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Rutherford County, Tennessee.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect on the date of your appointment governs that engagement. The current version is always posted at lexithenotary.com/terms.
